Not all seat patents are ludicrous (i.e. looking to reduce your legroom). This is actually quite smart:

No real solutions to carrying infants on board has been satisfactory until now—nor truly safe. This rear-facing seat solution with a three-point belt system is a good idea. 

It's only a patent and who knows if it would ever get past the idea stage, but there's a real industry problem to solve here. Bravo to Airbus for thinking about it!
