The new airline, based in India, will be called Vistara.
The name is based on an ancient Sanskrit word loosely meaning "limitless expanse" and the logo is "derived from the yantra, a perfect mathematical form representing an unbounded universe." It's an elegant and sophisticated mark for the newly-formed full-service carrier which begins operations in October.
It's also quite a gamble for Singapore Airlines who have been struggling of late under immense pressure and erosion of key routes by Middle Eastern carriers. It will be interesting to see if this bet pays off.
