As the traveling public knows, all electronic devices are screened by security officers. During the security examination, officers may also ask that owners power up some devices, including cell phones. Powerless devices will not be permitted onboard the aircraft. 

Yes, you read that right, you won't be allowed to bring your iPhone or Amazon Fire tablet on board if it doesn't have juice.

The TSA is increasing security at "certain airport overseas" (which ones, we don't know) that have direct flights to the USA, following Homeland Security's warning of last week.

I have to say that, until recently at least, Athens Airport required laptops to be powered on while on the X-Ray belt. I had been asked to power on other devices in the past at airports in Asia too.

But anyway, the hunt for airport power sockets has reached a new stage.
